MyHothe horn speaker project |
The MyHo is the result of the project to create a horn speaker with a sculpted form (but relatively easy to manufacture), using a fullrange chassis.
It's a kind of a form follows function design. The form is developed from a snail's shell, which is similar to the form of a horn construction (here an exponential horn). |
But the form follows not only this physical aspect, it should also be a (room friendly) sculpture to please the ear, the eye and the mind.
Each form has a purely aesthetical expression and is (individually) associated in our mind. I suppose it could be seen as a wing, a piano or a penguin beside an abstract sculpture. It integrates geometric and organic forms and should be realized in wood or in a combination of fiberglass and wood (the sides) with felt behind the speaker at the upper front (the high adjustable feet/spikes made of aluminium or wood). |
